Lion Brand Crochet-a-Long – MARCH 2009 – kits now available!
This year I’ve decided to offer my customers the opportunity to purchase the kits to make the garments featured in Lion Brand’s Crochet-a-Longs.
Starting with this month’s project - The Moderne Jacket. This lovely warm jacket is crocheted with two strands together of Lion Wool and Lion Cashmere Blend

There are four sizes available – small, medium, large and extra-large.
For those of you conscious of price, because let’s face it, the starting price of $187 for the small is a bit exy, you can crochet this with two strands of Vanna’s Choice and Vanna’s Glamour (available by Pre-Order) together. The project tutor – Heather – will be posting about this in the Lion Brand blog on Thursday (US time).
Happy Crocheting!
The 80s – fantastic!
I confess – I’m a child of the 80s. I grew up with such fashion notables as -fluoro, Choose Life t-shirts, leg-warmers and intarsia knits.
So any chance I get to go tripping down memory lane, I grab! Here’s a video that may help you do that too. LOL!
Craft Talk by net celeb – Leslie Hall – all about 80s Gem sweaters!
Here’s a project to make when you’re in a hurry
I spent three hours on Sunday night trying to get my knitting machine to behave so I could knit a scarf for my sister-in-law – no such luck.
After screaming in frustration, I decided to go back to old faithful crochet and whip up something in no time flat! Ha! No time was EXACTLY what I had. Approximately 3 hours was all that was available to me.
Sooo…thinking caps on – I remembered somewhere on Ravelry there was a scarf to be made with one skein. It was the (ironically enough) ‘One Skein’ scarf from “Stitch ‘n Bitch: The Happy Hooker”. So I went digging around in my stash and found the ideal yarn – Lion Brand Suede – I had two skeins left. I actually used 1.5 skeins of this to make the scarf you see below – with a 6 mm hook.
I had a full-length shot of me with this but I was not looking my best when DH took the photo so you will have to be content with a close-up.

American Yarns Studio – opening soon!
I’ve been a bit quiet with my blogging lately as I’ve been trying to get my new yarn studio organised. I will be opening a few days a week for general shopping and classes. I’m very excited to finally offer the opportunity for my customers to come and feel my yarn! Here’s a sneak peek of my wall of yarn…

My wall of cottons – Lily Sugar ‘n Cream, Creme de la Creme, Bernat Organic, Aunt Lydia’s crochet thread, Regia sock yarn, Lion Brand Cotton-Ease.

My wall of wools – Lion Brand Wool-Ease, Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece and Lamb’s Pride, Vanna’s Choice (acrylic)
This is only two out of three shelves. The third shelf will have the acrylics on it. I’ll also have my pattern books out on display and my notions and accessories as well.
More on what classes I’ll be offering soon…
