What does it mean if my item shows "Backordered"?
Our most popular yarn and products may sell out quickly and will be placed temporarily on back order. This means that the items are currently out of stock and on order from our supplier. We place our orders weekly and delivery time from our supplier is approx 7 to 10 days. Your item or items which you ordered will be sent out to you as soon as we receive them!
Do you have a shop or do you sell online only?
We are an online store. However, if you happen to live in Melbourne Vic, send us an email and you can purchase direct from our American yarn store room.
How long does the order take to arrive?
Once the order has been received and payment confirmed, your order is shipped within 3 business days via Australia Post. Depending on your location, your parcel will take anywhere from 3 to 7 business days, time maybe longer should your location be more remote or outback.
What forms of payment do you accept?
All of our transactions are in AUD (Australian dollars) on this website. We accept the following major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, and Pay Pal, AfterPay and Zip Money.
How does AfterPay work?
AfterPay is fully integrated with the store’s online checkout. All you need to do is choose AfterPay as your payment option when you’re ready to buy. You will be redirected to their website to set up and account or login to an existing account just as you would with PayPal. Nominate the card you want to use and automatic payments are scheduled for you. You will ten be redirected back to the checkout page to complete the order. AfterPay splits your payments over four equal instalments due every fortnight.
When will my credit card be charged?
When your order is created, we request an authorization to charge your credit card. This allows us to work on your order immediately so we can ship it as soon as possible.
Do I receive a confirmation notice for my order?
Yes you will receive a confirmation invoice on your email from us once you order is placed and confirmed.
Before I order online I would like to know how many balls of yarn do you recommend per baby blanket?
It would depend on the size of blanket you wish to make. A normal-sized baby blanket would measure approx. 100cm x 100cm, in this case again depending on ply size approx. it would be hard even to estimate, however, send us an email admin@americanyarns.com.au of the size and the yarn you wish to purchase and we will give you an idea at the very least!
What size of crochet hook do I use?
Depending on the ply of your yarn, most patterns list the size of crochet hook or knitting needle. All brands of yarn description tells you the size hook or needles recommended.
Do you have wholesale prices?

Yes, both these brand yarns are now in stock.
Do you have more colours in Bernat blanket 300gm?
See the swatch colour list on the product page. If there is a colour you want and it is not on the list, please send us an email and we will source the colour for you.
I'm looking to buy Red Heart Super Saver yarn, in particular colours, are you able to source the colours I need?
Yes we can, please send us and email, we can source most brands, colours and blends, of Bernat, Lily Sugar n Cream, Red Heart super saver, Red Heart with Love, Caron, and why not have a look in our bargain bin for a mixed range of yarn on sale.
What is the best yarn to use for Dish clothes?
Lily Sugar N Cream is 100% pure cotton and the most used yarn for Dish clothes. The yarn is a 10ply.
Tip: Apply a tight tension stitch to keep shape of your dish cloth.
