Carrie Bradshaw Inspired Knitted Blanket
This colourful and beautiful soft blanket was created from a picture of Carrie Bradshaw, a TV character, sitting on a couch reading a book with this gorgeous, colourful blanket draped over her knees. I searched everywhere for the yarn used to create the blanket, but I could not find it anywhere, so I created the colours from all my yarn in the store!
Premier yarns were my choice due to the beautiful colour ranges they have. I also wanted them to be chunky and soft and blend all types of yarn and colours. It was an adventure, but it worked; blending the different types of yarn was tricky at first, as the Premier Parfait Chunky yarn is a little chunkier than the other yarns used, and I am a loose knitter, so I only completed 2 rows with this yarn and the Premier colorfusion, Premier Bloom and Premier Basix yarns, I knitted 3 rows, these yarns are certainly not as chunky as the parfait.
Yarn used to make this colourful blanket:
Size knitting needles: 10mm Susan Bates, circular needles
How I made this blanket
Tassels were made from most cut offs of blanket yarn used.
Pattern, cast on 144 Stitches, plain knit for 4 rows, then knit, pearl the remainder of Blanket until last 4 rows, then plain knit remaining 4 rows. I changed colours every 3 rows.
Tie the tassels at bottom of each end. I used 3 strands of yarn in each tassel, white x 2 strands, and 1 colour strand, once folded and tied into tassel it creates 6 strands hanging.
The length of the Blanket will depend on what size you want, I made this one to fit on Queen size bed. Size 190cm wide, 170cm long.
Creating a colourful knitted blanket is a rewarding project that combines creativity, skill, and patience. You can produce a cozy and visually appealing blanket that reflects your style by carefully selecting materials and employing various knitting techniques. Whether you’re an experienced knitter or a beginner, this project offers an opportunity to enhance your skills and enjoy the process of crafting something beautiful and functional.
