Crochet Monsters story
I was enjoying crocheting some fun toys using Lily Sugar’n Cream 100% pure cotton yarn, creating cupcakes and ice creams for girls to play tea parties games and then it occurred to me I had forgotten all about toys for boys!
So here are my monsters! I crocheted the monsters, using Lily Sugar’n Cream 100% cotton yarn to create these characteristic monsters.
Lily Sugar n Cream 100% pure cotton 10 ply
Hook size 3mm
Colours used to crochet monsters:
- Hot Blue
- Bright Navy
- White
- Red
- Mod Green
- Dark Pine
- Sunshine
- Black
Pattern
Body
Magic circle, sc x 6
Round 1 sc x 2 into first st and continue sc into every st = 12
Round 2 sc x 2 into first st sc x 1 into next st, sc x 2 into next st continue around = 18
Round 3 sc x 2 into first st sc x 1 into next 2 st continue around = 24
Depending on size:
Small size 22cm round 9cm tall
Round 4 continue at round 4 sc x 1 into each st
Continue around
Larger size 27cm round 12cm tall
Round 4 sc x 2 into first st, sc x 1 into next 3 st continue around = 30
Round 5 sc x 2 into first st, sc x 1 into next 4 st continue around = 36
Round 6 sc x into each st around
Continue to round 11
Change colours where ever you wish to create a different effect at bottom of monster.
Last round sc into 1st st dc x 3 into same st sc x 1 into same stitch sl st into next st then continue sc x 1 dc x 3 sc x 1 into next st, complete this patter all around.
Eyes
Magic circle, sc x 6 into circle
Round 1 sc x 2 into each st
Round 2 sc x 2 into 1st st, sc x 1 into next continue around
Pupil
Ch 3 then join with sl st into 1st st tie off
Mouth
Using a darning needle, thread white or black yarn and sew a slip stitch onto monster body.
Bottom
Magic circle, sc x 6
Round 1 sc x 2 into first st and continue sc into every st = 12
Round 2 sc x 2 into first st sc x 1 into next st, sc x 2 into next st continue around = 18
Round 3 sc x 2 into first st sc x 1 into next 2 st continue around = 24
Sew eyes using daring needle sew pupil on first then sew onto body of monster.
Stuff monsters with stuffing, then sew bottom to body of monster.
